The French champions will appoint their seventh new manager since Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s takeover of the club in 2011.
Paris Saint-Germain have sacked their manager Christophe Galtier after one season.
Galtier signed a two-year deal to replace Mauricio Pochettino last summer. Despite winning a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 title, PSG failed to progress in Europe under his stewardship. The Parisians suffered a second straight exit in the Champions League last-16 stage. They also fell in the round of 16 in the French Cup.
Now, following weeks of widespread speculation, Galtier has left the club. PSG released a statement on Wednesday to announce the termination of his contract.
In the statement, PSG thanked Galtier for his work. They paid tribute to his accomplishments, noting his role in their Ligue 1 and Trophée des Champions successes. The Frenchman’s assistants, Thierry Oleksiak and Joao Sacramento, have also vacated their roles.
Galtier was the sixth managerial appointment of the Nasser Al-Khelaifi era. The PSG president is set to replace him with Luis Enrique. An announcement is expected soon, with an agreement already in place between the former Spain coach and the Parisian club.
Al-Khelaifi’s previous appointments were Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel, and Pochettino.
Le Paris Saint-Germain et Christophe Galtier ont décidé de mettre un terme à son contrat d’entraîneur de l’équipe première.
