The French giants have made their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain have decided to sign Nuno Mendes on a four-year deal after his loan spell at the club.
Mendes joined the Parisians from Sporting Lisbon last summer, with the club now deciding to trigger a permanent option in his contract.
The Portuguese right back’s transfer did not attract much attention among the club’s several blockbuster moves. However, he turned out to be surprisingly good under Mauricio Pochettino at Parc des Prince.
The 19-year-old made 27 league games for PSG as they reclaimed their Ligue 1 title. He also played in all of the French giants’ Champions League matches until they crashed out of the tournament with a defeat against Real Madrid.
In a statement, PSG said: “Paris Saint-Germain has completed the permanent transfer of Nuno Mendes. The Portugal left-back is now tied to the club from the French capital until 30 June 2026.”
PSG have reportedly paid €40million to Sporting of making the deal permanent. The French club are considering Mendes as part of their future lineup as they lean toward signing younger stars.
Following the controversial contract extension of Kylian Mbappe, PSG have come under fire for allegedly breaching the financial fair play rules. Let’s see if the French giants will have any more big signings this summer.
