Serie A side Napoli bought a Chelsea midfielder on a loan contract as the club battles for the Italian title.
Napoli signed Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko for the season 2020-21. Subsequently, the former Monaco player is set to return to Serie A.
Bakayoko played the season 2018-19 with Italian side AC Milan, making 42 appearances across all competitions.
The Rossoneri was under Gennaro Gattuso during Tiemoue’s spell at San Siro. And now, Bakayoko will rejoin Gattuso to play for Napoli.
The France international will appear in Naples for his medical examination on Sunday. Consequently, Napoli will announce his arrival after a successful test.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea in summer 2017 from French club Monaco. The deal cost the Premier League club £40 million as the midfielder shined in Ligue 1.
Although, the Frenchman did not make any crucial impact at Stamford Bridge. He played regularly in the first season under Antonio Conte. Though, Maurizio Sarri kept him on the bench during his reign in London.
Though, after one year, Bakayoko moved to Milan, followed by another loan move to Monaco.
Unfortunately, both the clubs denied to purchase the midfielder. And, during the transfer window, Bakayoko mentioned his transfer talk with Milan:
“Everyone knows that Milan is in my heart and I have good memories,” he explained to Tuttosport when asked about the possibility of a San Siro return back in September.
“At the moment I’m a Chelsea player, then we’ll see in football.”
Paris Saint-Germain was another destination for him, though, now the Chelsea man will play under Gattuso to control Napoli’s midfield.
