Juventus have completed the signing of Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie in a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
McKennie becomes the first signing for Juventus under new boss Andrea Pirlo.
The USMNT star arrived in Turin last week to complete a move that has finally crossed the line.
McKennie joins Juventus in a season-long loan worth an initial €4.5m. However, Juve hold an €18.5m purchase option plus up to €7m in bonuses if certain performance-related clauses are met.
Regardless of whether those clauses are met, Juve still have the option to purchase the 22-year-old as detailed on their official website.
McKennie moves to the Serie A after establishing himself as a key player for Schalke.
He made his debut for the Bundesliga side in the 2016/17 season.
The 22-year-old went on to star for Die Knappen, making a total of 74 appearances across all competitions since then.
Last season, McKennie made 28 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke, scoring three times.
His versatility on the pitch comes as a boost for Pirlo. He’s more of a midfielder but can play in a couple of positions in defence.
McKennie joins Arthur Melo as new arrivals in midfield for Juventus.
