The reigning Bundesliga champions have tied down the future of Joshua Kimmich with a new long-term deal.

Bayern Munich have announced that Joshua Kimmich has signed a contract with the club until June 2025.

Kimmich, whose previous deal was to expire in 2023, has committed to a two-year contract extension. He has grown into a vital asset for Bayern since an €8.5 million move from RB Leipzig, having supplied 30 goals and 73 assists in 264 appearances at the Allianz Arena.

His versatility, intelligence, decisiveness, and consistency have impressed many observers. In fact, Robert Lewandowski has claimed in the past that his Bayern teammate could become a Ballon d’Or winner someday.

So with all this in mind, Bayern have acted swiftly to secure the future of one of their most prized assets.

“The most important reason for my contract extension is that I can pursue my passion with joy every day here at FC Bayern,” Kimmich told the club’s website.

“I have a team where I can achieve everything, and a lot of teammates have become real friends. That’s why I started playing football in the first place, because it should be fun. I still don’t think I’m at the end of my development and I’m convinced there’s a lot possible at FC Bayern in the next years.”

The 26-year-old added: “On top of that, my family feels at home here. Munich has become a second home. The combination we have here isn’t found all over the world.”

Kimmich has won six Bundesliga titles, three DFB Cups, the Champions League, five German Super Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup so far at Bayern.
