Inter Milan have announced the transfer of Matteo Darmian on a season-long loan deal with a compulsory buyout clause included.
Matteo Darmian failed to establish himself as a regular in the Manchester United line-up throughout his four-year stay at the club and was consequently offloaded in 2019.
The fullback, however, was able to pick up form after his return to Italy as he played a key role in Parma finishing mid-table in the 2019/20 Serie A season.
His defensive expertise caught the eyes of Antonio Conte, who started the pursuit of the 30-year old in the summer transfer window.
On Monday, Conte witnessed success in his pursuit as Inter Milan confirmed the signing of the Italian defender.
A statement on the announcement made on the official club website confirming the transfer read: “Through his enjoyment and love for the sport, Matteo has learned the values of honesty, loyalty, and teamwork.
“Now, he’s ready for a new adventure. He’s back in Milan, on the doorstep of where he grew up. He’ll be wearing the Nerazzurri shirt, and he’ll bring his values, experience, and qualities in doing so.
“Welcome Matteo, forza Inter!”
Darmian has joined the Nerazzurri on a loan deal with an obligation to make the move permanent for a reported €5 million at the end of this season.
