The Nerazzurri have tied Matteo Darmian down to a new contract.

Matteo Darmian has signed a new contract at Inter until 2024.

Darmian was spending the final months of his previous deal, but Inter have made a timely effort to avoid a free departure.

On Thursday, the Serie A giants confirmed the 33-year-old extended his stay at the club.

“Hi Inter fans. I’m delighted to keep on wearing these colours. See you at the stadium,” Darmian said in a social media post.

The new contract will run until June 2024. However, according to Calcio e Finanza, there is an option for extending the deal for another year. Darmian will earn around €2.5 million per season based on his new contract.

Since joining Inter from Parma in 2020, Darmian has become a regular starter in Inter’s backline. So far, the 33-year-old has claimed the Serie A title, the Supercoppa trophy and the Coppa Italia at San Siro.

Darmian scored the match-winner for Inter as they reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals by beating Atalanta 1-0 on Tuesday.

Next up, the Nerazzurri will lock horns with Milan in a much-awaited Serie A derby on Sunday. Winning the game could maintain Inter’s two-point lead over Lazio at the second spot on the league table.
