Borussia Dortmund have successfully completed the signing of Reinier Jesus on a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid shelled out close to €35 million to land Reinier from Flamengo in January, continuing their new tradition of acquiring young Brazilian talents.

The 18-year old was enrolled in the club’s reserve team due to Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Eder Militao already taking up the three non-EU players slot in the senior team.

With the aim of encouraging his development, Real Madrid have now allowed him to join Borussia Dortmund, a club with a reputation for bringing out the best in young players.

Reinier will be playing under Lucien Favre in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons at Signal Iduna Park.

Announcing the transfer, BVB sporting director Michael Zorc said on the official club website: “Reinier is a player who brings enormous talent and can be used in various positions in the offensive.

“We have been watching the boy for more than two years. He has great technical skills as well as good physical robustness.”

The Brazil U23 international, who will wear the number 20 shirt next season, also expressed his delight over the move.

“I am happy to be with BVB now,” he said. “The club is known for betting on young players and making them better.”

“I want to learn a lot here, play a lot and help the team to be successful. I hope that we will have many happy moments together”

Reinier becomes BVB’s third signing of the summer transfer window after Thomas Meunier and Jude Bellingham.
