Cristiano Ronaldo has officially completed his Manchester United return and thanked fans for all their kind messages to him.
Manchester United have confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford is complete.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner rejoins United on a two-year contract with the option to extend for a further year, subject to international clearance.
The Red Devils, who hijacked Manchester City’s attempts to sign Ronaldo last week, will pay Juventus an initial €15 million. The Italian club could receive an extra €8m in bonuses, leaving the total transfer fee at around €23m.
“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday,” Ronaldo told the club’s website.
“I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again. I’m looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”

Solskjaer delighted CR7 is coming home
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: “You run out of words to describe Cristiano. He is not only a marvelous player but also a great human being. To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level for such a long period requires a very special person. I have no doubt that he will continue to impress us all and his experience will be so vital for the younger players in the squad. Ronaldo’s return demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and I am absolutely delighted he is coming home to where it all started.”
When could CR7 make his second debut?
Ronaldo is currently in Lisbon preparing for Portugal’s World Cup qualifiers against Ireland on Wednesday, Qatar on Saturday, and Azerbaijan on September 7.
Once the international break ends, he will return to Old Trafford and could make his second Manchester United debut against Newcastle on September 11 in the Premier League.
