The Blues have announced the acquisition of the highly-rated Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
Chelsea have confirmed that RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku is their first signing of the summer transfer window. The Blues will pay a fee close to €60 million.
The France international has signed a six-year contract with the club. He has been widely recognized for his performances in Germany, having been named Bundesliga Player of the Season in the 2022/23 campaign. He is also the current holder of the German Footballer of the Year accolade.
Speaking to the club’s website, Nkunku expressed his excitement upon joining Chelsea, stating that he is looking forward to playing in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world.
“A big effort was made to bring me to the club,” the 25-year-old revealed.
“I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.”
Nkunku contributed 23 goals in all competitions last season to help Leipzig win back-to-back DFL-Pokal titles and claim a third-place Bundesliga finish.
