The club have decided to part ways with their CEO and sporting director ahead of the next season.

Bayern Munich have announced a decision to dismiss Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic with immediate effect.

Bayern’s hierarchy came under fire after their shock decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann mid-season. Soon after Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, defeats against Manchester City and Freiburg cost Bayern both the Champions League and DFB-Pokal titles.

The Bavarians claimed their 11th consecutive league title after a dramatic win against Koln. But the club’s supervisory board didn’t change their decision to sack Kahn and Salihamidzic soon after the match.

“Bayern announce Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić have been dismissed with immediate effect,” the club’s statement read.

“Jan-Christian Dreesen takes over as new CEO. Salihamidžić’s successor has yet to be found.”

In a post-match tweet, Kahn said he was “forbidden” by the club to celebrate with the team. The Bayern legend ends his two-year spell as the club’s CEO, with Jan-Christian Dreesen taking his role.

“First of all, I would like to thank our supervisory board for the trust they have placed in me. Actually, my life plans had something else in mind – but when FC Bayern calls, you drop everything else,” the new Bayern CEO said.

He added: “This club has always been close to my heart. I will continue to use all my energy to be successful with FC Bayern in all areas and I’m looking forward to the new task. Anyone who knows me knows how much the club, its employees and our fans mean to me.”
