FC Barcelona have announced a second summer signing in Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.
Barcelona have confirmed Eric Garcia’s return to Camp Nou on a free transfer from Manchester City.
Confirmation of the 20-year-old’s move on Tuesday morning comes less than 24 hours after City teammate Sergio Aguero agreed to a two-year contract with Barcelona on Monday afternoon.
Now Garcia, who is a product of the club’s famed ‘La Masia’ academy, rejoins his hometown club three years after his departure.
The Spain international will sign a five-year deal, with a €400 million release clause included, on July 1 once his contract with City has officially expired.
“FC Barcelona and Eric Garcia have reached an agreement for the player to join the club from 1 July one his contract with Manchester City is at an end,” read a club statement.
“The player will sign a contract until the end of the 2025/26 season and his buy-out clause is set at 400 million euros.”
With his future resolved, Garcia will now turn his focus onto the upcoming European Championship this summer.
The defender is part of Spain manager Luis Enrique’s 26-man squad for the competition.
