The Catalans have added yet another one of Chelsea’s top transfer targets to their ranks.

Barcelona have confirmed an agreement with Sevilla to sign Jules Kounde ahead of the next season.

The French defender had been a major transfer target for Chelsea, with the Blues pushing to sign him last summer.

The English giants continued their efforts to bring Kounde to London in the current transfer window. But Barcelona managed to hijack the move with a late attempt to sign the highly-rated defender.

Kounde becomes the fourth star who snubs Chelsea for Barcelona this summer.

After failed attempts to bring Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele to Stamford Bridge, the Blues tried to sign Brazilian winger Raphinha earlier this summer.

However, in a similar fashion to Kounde, the Leeds star decided to join the Catalans on a summer move.

Barcelona will pay an initial fee of €50m to Sevilla for Kounde’s signing, with another €10m being in add-ons. The Frenchman has signed a four-year contract at Camp Nou, joining the likes of Gerrard Pique and Ronald Araujo at the heart of Barca’s backline.

Barcelona are also keen to sign Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso from Chelsea this summer. However, Chelsea might increase their efforts to keep the defensive pair after their recent setbacks in the transfer market.
