The Gunners continue their spending spree in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have made waves in the transfer market with their latest signing, Spanish goalkeeper David Raya.

Raya, who joins Arsenal from Brentford, is the club’s fourth signing. He has moved to the Emirates Stadium on an initial season-long loan. As part of the deal, Arsenal have an option to sign him permanently next summer.

In turn, Brentford have announced Raya has signed a two-year extension to his current contract. This way, if Arsenal don’t take up their buy option, the Bees will be able to welcome Raya back to the fold or sell him to another club.

Raya will take over from Matt Turner, who recently made a big-money move to Nottingham Forest, as the No.2 keeper. He is no stranger to the Premier League and aims to give Arsenal’s current No. 1, Aaron Ramsdale, a run for his money.

The former Blackburn Rovers star will wear the No. 22 jersey in north London.

Last season, Raya was one of the Premier League’s standout goalkeepers. He made a whopping 154 saves and kept 12 clean sheets to help Brentford finish ninth in the table. His performances had put him on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur. But Brentford’s high valuation of the player led Spurs to withdraw their interest.

With Raya now in the mix, Arsenal’s defense looks stronger than ever. They’ve also signed Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz this summer. Their total expenditure is a reported €235.1 million.
