The Serie A giants have confirmed a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and the player’s jersey number.

AC Milan have confirmed Olivier Giroud’s arrival from Premier League side Chelsea for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The Frenchman arrived in Italy this week to sign his contract and undergo a medical. Once cleared, he penned a farewell message to Chelsea on social media to effectively confirm his move.

Now Milan have announced it, with reports claiming the Rossoneri have snapped him up on a two-year contract until 2023.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Olivier Jonathan Giroud on a permanent transfer from Chelsea FC,” read a statement from AC Milan.

“The French striker will be wearing the number 9 jersey.”

According to reports, Milan will pay Chelsea a guaranteed €1 million and an extra €1 million as an add-on to bring the final amount to €2 million.

Giroud leaves Chelsea with 39 goals and 14 assists under his belt in 119 appearances. He won four trophies at Stamford Bridge, including the Europa League and Champions League.

But a lack of regular opportunities under Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel last season forced him to seek a new club. He becomes the second Blues player to join Milan this summer after Fikayo Tomori, who sealed a €28m move this summer.
