Thibaut Courtois refuses to blame Real Madrid’s indecisiveness in front of the goal for the goalless draw in the LaLiga season opener.

La Liga’s reigning champions Real Madrid returned to the pitch on the weekend after over a month-long break from any competitive action.

Zinedine Zidane’s men did not exactly set an example on how to start a new season as they were forced to a goalless stalemate by Real Sociedad.

Karim Benzema and Alexander Isak both failed to concert good goalscoring opportunities in a match that had a combined 22 shots in total only five of which were on target.

“Of course we’ve got goals. You see it in training, you see it in the last pre-season friendly we had against Getafe [a 6-0 win],” Courtois told Movistar after the match.

Courtois played a huge role in his side preserving a point as he produced a magnificent save to deny Isak in the fist half at Anoeta on Sunday night.

“If we don’t concede too many goals and we can order ourselves and be difficult to score against,” the goalkeeper added. “We have at the other end of the pitch Karim Benzema, who always plays at a very high level but didn’t have any luck tonight.

“It’s always important for us to keep a clean sheet.”

Real Madrid will be aching for their first win of the 2020/21 La Liga season when they pay a visit to Real Betis in a week’s time.
