Rashford’s late equalizer wasn’t enough to save United from another embarrassing defeat.
Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester United 2-1 in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Red Devils lacked enough attacking edge to escape defeat at City Ground.
What happened?
United stayed patient with their attacks early on as they tried to find their feet in the game. Forest, on the other hand, made a few attempts for a breakthrough in the first half but mostly stayed within their own half.
The dynamic of the game changed after the break, with the woodwork preventing Diogo Dalot from putting United ahead in the 55th minute. Only ten minutes later, Forest broke the deadlock as they went ahead through Nicolas Dominguez’s precise low shot.
The goal forced United to put more bodies forward, but they rarely found any serious goalscoring chances. Finally, a misplaced pass from Forest’s goalkeeper led to Marcus Rashford’s equalizer in the 78th minute.
But Forest managed to restore their lead only four minutes later. This time, an excellent finish from Morgan Gibbs-White on the edge of the box secured Forest’s victory as they went ahead 2-1.
Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United: Man of the Match
Anthony Elanga deserves the Man of the Match title for his fantastic performance against his former side. In addition to providing an assist for his side’s match-winning goal, Elanga put Dalot under pressure throughout the game with his skills, winning ten ground duels.
