Despite Scott McTominay’s match-winning brace, Paul Scholes doesn’t believe the Scot was Manchester United’s best player against Chelsea.

Paul Scholes has praised Alejandro Garnacho as the best player in Manchester United’s win against Chelsea.

On Wednesday, Scott McTominay scored a goal in both halves to seal a crucial 2-1 victory. The midfielder rightfully won plenty of plaudits for his brace. Yet, Garnacho’s performance on the left flank impressed Scholes, who believes the 19-year-old ‘went up another level’.

“I thought Garnacho was excellent,” the former Red Devils midfielder said on Premier League Productions.

“I thought he was probably the best player on the pitch.

“I know Scott scored two goals and got player of the match, but I thought Garnacho was excellent and he went up another level tonight.”

In the Chelsea game, Garnacho got an assist for McTominay’s second goal, which secured United’s victory.

The Argentina international now has three goals and one assist to his name in 20 games across all competitions. He will hope to continue his fine form on Saturday when United face Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
