The former RB Leipzig star were among Chelsea’s defensive targets this summer.

Nordi Mukiele has confirmed Chelsea were keen to sign him before his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Following a four-year spell at RB Leipzig, the former Montpellier defender returns to his homeland to play for PSG.

Chelsea were also in the race to sign Mukiele, but the Frenchman says he had no hesitation over joining the Ligue 1 champions.

“Honestly, no,” Mukiele told L’Equipe when asked if Chelsea‘s interest delayed his move to Parc des Princes. “From the moment I had given my word to Luis Campos, at no time did I hesitate.”

Mukiele will join the likes of Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe in PSG’s backline ahead of the next season.

The 24-year-old will most likely start as a rotational option under Christophe Galtier. But he is keen to fight for more minutes at his new club.

“In Leipzig, I was in competition with internationals,” he said. “I come to play where the coach needs it, to help the team. And give the best version of myself.

“It must be said that in each major European club, you must have high-level players to win the biggest trophies. It’s normal. I come here to play, to learn, to keep growing.”
