Eric Garcia revealed that none of the Manchester City players have discussed Lionel Messi’s possible arrival from Barcelona.

Messi has informed Barcelona that he wishes to leave this summer and was hoping to exploit a clause in his contract that would enable him to leave for free, only for the club and LaLiga to state the option expired on June 10.

A meeting between club officials and Messi along with his father, Jorge, will reportedly take place on Wednesday. Until then, however, no further updates are expected on his future.

How this will play out could be pivotal, as the 10-time LaLiga winner allegedly believes his days at Barcelona are over. He didn’t attend pre-season medical tests or Ronald Koeman’s first training session on Monday.

But while everyone in Catalonia desperately awaits good news, speculation over Messi’s next club continues to grow. Big names like Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, and Manchester City are all in the running.

The latter, who is coached by his old Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, is the alleged favorite. However, Garcia insists nobody at City has discussed Messi lining up in blue in Manchester.

“At City, we have not talked about Messi coming, but everyone would like to have Messi in their team,” said the 19-year-old as quoted on Yahoo.

“On the Messi issue, it’s something between clubs that I can’t get into.

“I am going to avoid the question if he would be a good signing for City because he is a Barca player and not I’m going to comment on it.”

Garcia, who attended Barcelona’s famed youth academy ‘La Masia’ before joining City in 2017, is preparing for Spain’s upcoming Nations League games against Germany on Thursday and Ukraine on Sunday.
