Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has admitted he is frustrated by the apparent lack of game-time at the club under Mikel Arteta.

Eddie Nketiah has admitted he is concerned and ‘frustrated’ by his lack of game time under Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

The 21-year-old has not started a Premier League game since December and has failed to even make the bench for the last eight matches. He has also been left out of the squad for the Europa League knockout games.

So far this season, the youngster has only managed about 300+ minutes of league action, and a good number of those minutes have come from cameos off the bench.

Nketiah will captain England U21 for their European Championship campaign and says he is hoping to channel his frustration in a positive way.

“It’s been a difficult month or so for myself,” he said as quoted by the Mirror. “I have worked hard and stayed dedicated and that has added to the frustration.”

“It is a part of football but one that you don’t want to be involved in.”

“I believe in my ability so obviously I think I am capable of playing and helping the team.”

“It is frustrating not playing but you have to channel that frustration in a good way, use your time wisely to work hard and prepare for when that opportunity arises.”

Nketiah has five goals across all competitions this season but has only made three Premier League starts. However, he featured in every single one of Arsenal’s games in the Europa League group stages but chances are now running slim for the forward.

There have been whispers the 21-year-old could seek a summer exit if he isn’t guaranteed game-time next season.
