Nigeria star suffers nasty injury in Napoli’s clash against Inter

Napoli suffered their first defeat of the season against Inter on Sunday. The Partenopei lost the game 3-2 as Inter closed the gap furthermore on top of the Serie A table.

Luciano Spalletti’s side were trying to come back from behind in the second half of the game. However, they received a huge blow that diminished their hopes for a comeback.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen walked off the pitch after a clash of heads with Inter’s Milan Skriniar. The Napoli star needed lengthy treatment before leaving the pitch with a swollen head.

Napoli conceded another goal as Lautaro Martinez doubled Inter’s lead in the second half. The Partenopei tried to mount a comeback after Dries Mertens’ stunning goal in the 78th minute. However, they felt the absence of Osimhen as they were not clinical enough to convert their chances.

Osimhen was out of action for three months due to injury in his first season at the Diego Maradona Stadium. However, he has started the current campaign in good form, helping Napoli in their quest to remain on top.

In addition to Napoli fans, Nigeria fans will also want to see the striker remain fit. He is a crucial player for the Super Eagles squad ahead of their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations campaign. Nigeria will face Egypt in their first game of the tournament, which marks a much-anticipated battle between two of the continents best strikers: Mohamed Salah and Osimhen.
