The Forest have added a Nigerian defender to their ranks ahead of the next season.

Nottingham Forest have signed Nigeria international Ola Aina as a free agent.

Aina becomes Forest’s first summer signing after agreeing to a one-year deal at the Premier League side. The Nigerian star arrives as a free agent following his contract expiration at Torino.

“It’s exciting to be back playing in the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world, and I always want to challenge myself,” Aina told the club’s official website.

“The manager as well, what he wants from the team is something which I want to buy into. He’s told me it’s a family club., he’s told me we have a great bunch of players and he’s told me I’ll enjoy it here.”

Before his move to Torino in 2018, Aina had broken through Chelsea’s senior squad. He also made 31 Premier League appearances for Fulham during his loan spell in 2020-21.

Aina added: “I know some of the boys well already which is good for me, but I’m excited to meet the rest of my team-mates and get to know everyone.”

Aina represented England at youth level but chose Nigeria for his senior international career. The full-back has made 30 appearances for the Super Eagles.
