Neymar was seen landing in a graphic way as the Paris Saint-Germain star suffered from a nasty injury during their Ligue 1 clash on Sunday.
Neymar will be unavailable for Paris Saint-Germain for the rest of the year as the Brazil international suffered from a horrific injury during their latest game.
The 29-year-old had to be stretchered off the field after an awkward landing during PSG’s recent Ligue 1 win against Saint-Etienne.
And as it has been reported, the South American star will miss out on six weeks of action and might return mid-January.
With just two minutes left on the clock, Neymar attempted to dribble his opponents, however, was met with a sliding tackle.
In order to dodge the challenge, he leapt over Yvann Macon’s foot, but his ankle was flipped as he landed on the turf.
Neymar immediately screamed in pain and was taken out of the pitch after emergency medical assistance. The PSG attacker was later seen leaving Stade Geoffroy-Guichard with the help of crutches.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino told the reporters after the game: “Of course we are worried. But we hope that it is nothing too serious. And that he can come back to help the team as soon as possible.”
The club’s official website stated: “The examinations carried out confirm that Neymar Jr suffers from a sprained left ankle with ligament injuries. Unavailability of 6 to 8 weeks is to be expected. A new assessment will be made in 72 hours to specify the recovery.”
Neymar even posted a message on social media saying: “Unfortunately, these setbacks are a part of an athlete’s life. Now you have to raise your head and move on. I will come back better and stronger.”
