Former Barcelona and PSG winger Ludovic Giuly opened up on how the six-time Ballon d’Or winner’s arrival could change French football.

Lionel Messi’s potential arrival at Paris Saint-Germain has left his former Barcelona teammate Ludovic Giuly excited.

The Frenchman played alongside a young Messi at Camp Nou from 2004 to 2007. Since his departure, the Argentine has embarked on a record-breaking career and is now available for a free transfer.

Due to Barcelona’s financial woes and La Liga’s FFP rules, Messi cannot continue in Catalonia. He bid farewell to the club on Sunday and confirmed a move to PSG is a ‘possibility’.

Now Giuly, like most football fans, can’t wait to see Messi line up alongside former Barcelona teammate Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a new deadly attacking trio in France.

“We already had two of the four best players in the world, now we have the third,” he told Le Parisien.

“Do you realize that Neymar, Messi, and Mbappe will play together in Ligue 1? It sounds mind-boggling. Ligue 1 needed such positivity.

“It will not reflect well only on Paris, but on all of France. Everyone will only talk about him, everyone will go to the stadium to see him. It will do our league a lot of good.”

What’s the latest on Messi’s future?

Contrary to widespread reports that claim Messi is heading to Paris, the Argentine is still in Barcelona.

It’s understood that PSG sent an official contract offer to his father and agent, Jorge, on Sunday morning after opening talks last Thursday.

As of right now, Messi is reviewing the contract with his father and lawyers. The 34-year-old is reportedly ready to accept the offer once he has reviewed and sorted all the details. He’ll then plan to travel to Paris for a medical.
