The Parisians lost valuable points in Ligue 1 once more, prompting Neymar to issue a warning ahead of their big showdown.
Neymar warned Paris Saint-Germain to bring out their A-game for Wednesday’s Champions League encounter with Manchester United, or else things will quickly get complicated.
The Brazilian superstar spoke after the club’s 2-2 home draw against Bordeaux on Saturday night. A quick-fire double from himself and Moise Kean inside the half-hour mark put PSG ahead, only for Yacine Adli to equalize in the second half.
The result extended PSG’s winless run in Ligue 1 to two games, having lost 3-2 to AS Monaco previously. It also opened the door for Lille to move level on points with them at the top of the standings – pending the outcome of Les Dogues’ game against St-Etienne on Sunday night.
But for Neymar, the more pressing concern is the trip to Old Trafford coming up next.
“We know the importance of the Champions League game on Wednesday,” the forward told Canal+ as quoted on Metro.
“This is decisive. We didn’t play well against Leipzig (in a 1-0 victory on Tuesday), but we managed to win.
“On Wednesday we are going to try to have our best game, play well, but we need to improve certain details, play more as a team, be more organised, otherwise it is going to be difficult.”
PSG sit three points behind Group H leaders United and level with RB Leipzig on six points for the last knockout qualification spot.
As for the draw against Bordeaux, Neymar added: “We had a timid match.
“We managed to score goals, but we lacked certain details,” Neymar said of his side’s performance.
“We must improve on that, because if not, if it is in the league, it is a league where normally we manage to win a lot of games. If we can’t do that, it is going to be tough in the league as well as in the Champions League.”
