Neymar backed to lead another European charge for PSG

A compatriot and ex-teammate of Neymar feels that the forward’s desire for success will yet again be evident at Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar lifted the Champions League trophy in 2015 while at FC Barcelona and he has made several attempts to repeat that stunt with Paris Saint-Germain – only each time without success.

The closest the Brazilian came to winning the coveted prize was in the previous campaign when he guided PSG to the finals, only to narrowly lose out to Bayern Munich.

Coincidentally, it was also the closest PSG came to winning Europe’s most prestigious club competition in their entire history.

PSG have an abundance of attacking talent but it will be expected from Neymar to provide attacking inspiration and perhaps help the team do one better than last time in the current edition of the Champions League.

“He’s progressing every season. He’s an impressive player. He started his career almost at the top but he continues to achieve great things,” Lucas Moura told Le Parisien of his compatriot and former teammate.

“He’s a top player. Paris is very lucky to have Neymar.

“Of course, he will help them again this season, he wants to win the Champions League with PSG. There is nothing more to say.”

PSG will kick-off their 2020/21 Champions League campaign with a home game against Manchester United on Tuesday.
