Newcastle are reportedly considering loan moves for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster this summer.
A lack of adequate striking options for Newcastle could see them resort to loan moves for two promising youngsters. The players in question are the duo of Arsenal’s Nketiah and Liverpool’s Brewster.
A long-term injury to Dwight Gayle until December leaves Andy Caroll as the only available senior striking option for the Magpies.
Newcastle already have a deal close to being accepted for Bournemouth’s Calum Wilson. However, the Tyneside club are looking to get more options and proper backup going into the new season.
Eddie Nketiah and Rhian Brewster could be credible candidates for the above and reports say Steve Bruce could push for both players.
As per the Telegraph, the imminent addition of Calum Wilson will not stop Newcastle going out for both youngsters.
Nketiah is currently on international duty and scored a hat-trick for England Under-21s against Kosovo last week.
The 21-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds before completing the season with the Gunners. He scored four goals for Arsenal in all competitions from January until the end of the season.
Brewster is yet to score a competitive goal for Liverpool but has already bagged three in two pre-season games so far.
Similar to the Arsenal man, the Liverpool youngster spent last season on loan where he scored an impressive 11 goals with Swansea.
Nketiah and Brewster came head to head against each other when Arsenal edged out Liverpool to win the Community Shield last month.
