There’s a fresh development in the relationship between Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta that FC Barcelona supporters will probably like.

Joan Laporta didn’t have a great relationship with Xavi Hernandez due to the Al Sadd manager’s support to a different candidate during the elections. When the current president was running for office at FC Barcelona, he hoped Xavi would support him. However, the former Blaugrana midfielder supported Victor Font instead of Laporta. It was clear that Joan was the clear favorite to win the elections but Xavi didn’t think he was the ideal man for the job. This created a fracture in their relationship that remained until today.

When the names of Ronald Koeman replacements started getting analyzed, the president refused to appoint Xavi due to this division between them. But recent information confirms there has been an approach from both of them in order to possibly reach an agreement. Before any personal gain, Joan Laporta always proved he has the club’s best interest at heart. Hence, he agreed to speak to Xavi and possibly mend their relationship.

Xavi is also open to negotiating for the job.

Back when there was an initial approach during the election process, Xavi Hernandez also had some demands that Joan Laporta didn’t agree with. But things have drastically changed over the last couple of weeks. The situation with Ronald Koeman has reached a point where both men understand a truce is needed. Journalist Gerard Romero reported that Xavi is finally having productive conversations and an open communication channel with the president.

In the coming days, there will be an attempt to reach a common ground for a possible agreement. Xavi is convinced he is the manager who can take FC Barcelona to a new era that is led by the young talented squad. If Ronald Koeman’s results don’t start going his way, Xavi Hernandez is quickly turning into everybody’s most preferred option. Even the club president seems to think he is the man for the job.
