Mike Arteta’s side played their first friendly game of the pre-season on Friday.
Gabriel Jesus scored twice in Arsenal’s friendly match against Nurnberg.
The Gunners came back from a 2-0 in the first half to beat the hosts 5-3 on Friday.
Jesus came in at the beginning of the second period, and it took him only two minutes to score his first Arsenal goal.
Following a one-two with Eddie Nketiah, the former Manchester City star made it 2-1 by finding the back of the net from a tight angle. He then went on to score Arsenal’s fifth goal in the 75th minute.
Jesus’ immediate impact will delight Arsenal fans who doubted Jesus would fit in Mikel Arteta’s system. He now has a pre-season ahead of him to integrate more into the Gunners’ squad.
Jesus left Manchester City to join Arsenal on a £45m deal earlier this summer. Following the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Jesus is planning to become a key player in the Gunners’ front line.
The Brazil international scored 95 goals and provided 46 assists in his 233 appearances for Man City. His time at City also saw him work under Arteta, who was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Etihad.
Arsenal will continue their pre-season campaign with a match against Everton on Sunday.
