The Qatari businessman was reportedly involved in the process of Man Utd’s change of ownership.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has dismissed rumours about his involvement in the Manchester United takeover.

Reports emerged of Al-Khelaifi’s contact with the Glazers earlier this month. The 49-year-old reportedly tried to convince Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani to raise his offer to purchase Man Utd.

A few English sources went as far as claiming that Al-Khelaifi could be a major figure in Man Utd’s hierarchy if Sheikh Jassim becomes the club’s new owner.

However, Al-Khelaifi has denied his involvement in the takeover.

Paris St-Germain is my club, in my heart, and I have nothing to do with Manchester United,” he said on Saturday.

“It makes me laugh. I am Qatari, right? If people ask me my opinion, I will answer them for sure – and that’s what they do.

“I am talking about anyone, not just Manchester United. I will give them the experience that I have. That’s it.”

INEOS chief executive Sir Jim Ratcliffe seems to have edged out Sheikh Jassim in the race to take over United. The English businessman is reportedly in active talks with the Glazers to purchase their majority of 69.
