After Genoa’s unexpected massive infections, Napoli conducted Covid-19 tests on all their players and released the results today.

After Genoa’s positive cases of Covid-19, the whole city of Naples went into a state of emergency for what could happen at Napoli. The Italian club from the South was afraid that some of their own players would get infected with the virus. Genoa played against Gennaro Gattuso’s squad last weekend and six of their players who performed on the pitch came out positive.

This meant that Napoli’s squad was in danger of getting infected and extreme measures needed to be taken. After a few days of uncertainty, the Napoli squad just confirmed that none of the tests made to their whole squad and staff came out positive. This is a third bullet that professional footballers from a big club dodge over the last week. There are other instances in which many players don’t get infected after coming in contact with someone who has the virus.

Tottenham and Real Madrid went through the same situation.

Just last week, the Spurs suffered a similar situation after several Leyton Orient players tested positive right before a Carabao Cup match. Fortunately for the club, they didn’t get on the pitch and all the players were safe from any harm. Real Madrid also got a scare last week after Martin Odegaard appeared to have a positive test result.

Zidane was getting ready to suspend all activity at the club but the second test proved that the player’s first test was a false negative. Regardless of this result, Los Blancos tested all their player just to make sure they were okay. Every single test came out negative for Covid-19.

The Napoli squad was the most exposed to the virus to date since the pandemic started and they were lucky to come out without major issues. The upcoming Serie A fixture vs Juventus will continue as scheduled for Napoli. The Genoa players will remain in quarantine over the next weekend.
