Aurelio De Laurentiis insists he did not display any symptoms of coronavirus prior to participating in the Serie A Assembly.

A report emerged in Italian media earlier this week claiming that one of the attendees of the latest Serie A meeting had tested positive for COVID-19.

The same report also mentioned that the person in question was not wearing a mask in the right manner, risking the health of all the 20 representatives of the clubs in Italian top-flight present in the assembly.

It was later confirmed that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis was the one infected with the virus.

Napoli released a statement on their official website saying that De Laurentiis’s condition was revealed only after a test conducted on Wednesday.

De Laurentiis has since been a subject of criticism regarding his irresponsible behavior.

However, the 71-year old insists he did not know of his condition and would not have acted the way he did if he was aware of being a virus carrier.

“If I had imagined I could have COVID, I would never have traveled,” he stated, speaking to La Repubblica, via Football Italia.

“I had no symptoms.”
