The Nigerian star was seemingly mocked by the club in a controversial video on TikTok.
Victor Osimhen has expressed his gratitude for the people of Naples in his first statement since his recent fallout with the club.
On Thursday, Napoli issued a statement emphasizing that the controversial TikTok video was not meant to offend Osimhen.
The TikTok post, which has since been deleted, featured footage of Osimhen appealing for a penalty during a recent match against Bologna. The video also showed him missing the spot-kick. Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, strongly criticized Napoli’s social media post and even threatened legal action against the Serie A club.
Osimhen’s response shows he is ready to move on and continue his crucial role in the team’s attacking line.
“Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us,” Osimhen wrote in an Instagram post.
“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.
“The accusations against People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me.
“I’m forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE.”
