Liverpool continued their uninspiring campaign with another unexpected defeat.

Napoli defeated Liverpool 4-1 in their Champions League match on Wednesday. The Italian giants opened their European campaign with a fantastic win over Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Liverpool in crisis?

The hosts stunned Liverpool with an early opener as Piotr Zielinski put them ahead in the fifth minute.

Only 13 minutes later, Victor Osimhen had a perfect chance to double Napoli’s lead. However, Alisson saved the Nigerian’s penalty to keep Liverpool in the game.

The Reds made a few half-attempts to score the equalizer but then came Napoli’s second goal.

Following a brilliant one-two between Zielinski and Andre-Frank Anguissa, the Cameroonian star smashed the ball behind Alisson with a precise finish.

Liverpool’s backline crumbled under pressure from Napoli, who didn’t stop their attacks after the second goal.

Following another great run down the left-flank, Giovanni Simeone nodded the cut-back home from close range to make it 3-0 for the hosts.

Liverpool started the second period by conceding another goal through Zielinski, who completed his incredible performance by ending the Reds’ hopes for a comeback.

Klopp’s side scored through Luis Diaz in the 49th minute. But their uninspiring display didn’t lead to more serious chances throughout the second period.

Liverpool will now return to England to meet Wolves on Saturday.
