A dominant Napoli side recorded a convincing 4-0 win over Roma and dedicated their victory to late club legend Diego Maradona.
Napoli dedicated their 4-0 demolition of Roma to Diego Maradona with a splendid Lorenzo Insigne free-kick and goals from Fabian Ruiz, Dries Mertens, and Matteo Politano goals.
The result allowed the Partenopei to move up to joint fourth place with Juventus and Roma on 17 points.
It was an emotional night for Napoli, made even more special by the fact they wore new special edition kits similar to the Argentina jersey in honor of Diego Armando Maradona.
As with every Serie A game this weekend, play stopped at the 10th minute so everyone could stand and applaud the ultimate 10.
Insigne opened the scoring for Napoli in the 31st minute with a brilliant free-kick that Maradona would have been proud of. As expected, he dedicated his goal to the late Argentine.
Napoli were by far the dominant side in the game and goals from Ruiz, Mertens and Politano wrapped up the win for Gattuso’s men.
For Roma, the result comes as a big blow and sees their five-game unbeaten run in the Serie A come to an end.
