Napoli continue marching toward the Scudetto after securing another major victory.

Napoli defeated Roma 2-1 in their Serie A game on Sunday. A thrilling second half saw the Blues restore their lead in the final minutes of the game.

Napoli go 13 points clear!

Napoli started off by taking over the possession early on while Roma retreated into their own half. Following a few missed chances, the Blues broke the deadlock in the 17th minute.

A cross from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia found Victor Osimhen, who controlled the ball with a sublime touch inside the box. The Nigeria international then smashed the ball into the back of the net with an unstoppable shot.

The goal forced Roma to play higher up as they hoped to find an early equalizer. But the hosts managed to hold on to their lead until the break.

Roma looked better as the second half started, trying to conduct more attacks down both flanks. Napoli gradually re-established their dominance as the game went on, but it wasn’t enough to stop Roma from scoring the equalizer.

Following a precise cross from Nicola Zalewski, Stephan El Shaarawy nodded the ball home from close range to make it 1-1 for Jose Mourinho’s side.

But Napoli soon started a relentless wave of attacks to restore their lead. Their efforts paid off when Giovanni Simeone scored their second goal of the night with a fantastic shot in the 86th minute.

The victory extends Napoli’s lead at the top of the Serie A table to 13 points. The Blues will meet Spezia in their next league game on February 5.
