Inter and Napoli drew 1-1 in their crucial Serie A game on Saturday. The Partenopei missed their chance to leapfrog Inter on top of the table while maintaining their second spot.
Dzeko strikes again!
Napoli started off as the dominating side while Inter took their time to really find their feet in the game. Following a foul on Victor Osimhen, the referee awarded the hosts a penalty in the seventh minute.
Lorenzo Insigne converted the spot-kick to give Napoli an early lead. Inter started their efforts to get the equalizer as soon as they conceded the opening goal. However, they could not score two minutes after the interval.
Edin Dzeko was not able to convert Lautaro Martinez’s cross in his first attempt, but he scored the rebound with a precise shot from close range.
Napoli showed great enthusiasm to restore their lead throughout the second half. However, they were not able to get the match-winner as they settled for a 1-1 draw.
Inter maintain their one-point lead on top of the Serie A table, with Napoli having a game at hand. The Nerazzurri will face Liverpool in their next Champions League game on Wednesday while Napoli meet Barcelona in the Europa League a day later.
