The young German is one of the several names being suggested as a permanent successor to Lucien Favre at Signal Iduna Park.

Julian Nagelsmann has ruled out the possibility of taking over at Borussia Dortmund saying he has ‘big targets’ to achieve at RB Leipzig.

Dortmund gave Lucien Favre marching orders in December in the aftermath of the 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart, their worst result at home in over a decade. Edin Terzic was then handed the team’s reins on an interim basis.

Mauricio Pochettino was suggested as the one to replace Favre but the Argentine recently took over at Paris Saint-Germain.

Thomas Tuchel, who Pochettino replaced at PSG, is also viewed as a candidate for the BVB job and so is Nagelsmann.

Considered one of the most promising coaches in Europe, the 33-year-old guided Leipzig to the Champions League semi-finals last season

“There is no reason to be tense regarding Dortmund,” Nagelsmann, who has a contract at the Red Bull Arena until 2023, said ahead of the Bundesliga clash against BVB, via Daily Mail.

“The situation with Dortmund has remained the same as it was during my time as Hoffenheim coach. There was and there is no match.

“I am comfortable and I have big targets to achieve with Leipzig. As I said, there is no reason for anyone at RB Leipzig to get nervous regarding Dortmund.”
