The Barcelona midfielder received the France Football prize despite close competition from two Bundesliga stars.

Julian Nagelsmann believes Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala or Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham should’ve won the Kopa trophy ahead of Gavi.

Gavi received the award for the best under-21 player from his teammate Pedri, who claimed the prize last year.

Musiala and Bellingham finished third and fourth, respectively while Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga became the runner-up.

A year after Lionel Messi’s controversial Ballon d’Or win ahead of Robert Lewandowski, Bayern once again feel their players are being overlooked by the French publication.

“You wear club glasses,” Nagelsmann said ahead of his side’s DFB-Pokal clash against Augsburg.

“In my eyes, both Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham have had better seasons than the winner. Gavi is an outstanding player, and I’m happy for him too.”

Musiala has established himself as regular starter Bayern since last season, fending off competition from several top-class teammates.

This season, Musiala has become Bayern’s top-scorer, scoring five goals and providing five assists in his nine league appearances for Nagelsmann’s side.

Meanwhile at Dortmund, Bellingham has reached his peak form under new manager Edin Terzic. The Black and Yellows’ third captain became the third teenager to score in four consecutive Champions League games last week, following the footsteps of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
