Tottenham suffered a shock defeat against the Slovenian side, facing serious danger of elimination from the third-tier competition.
NS Mura stunned Tottenham with a 2-1 win in their Europa Conference League match on Thursday. Tottenham must now fight to finish second in the group as they are above Vitesse on goal difference.
A last-minute goal wins it for Mura!
Despite using a number of their first-team players, Tottenham started the match with an underwhelming form. The Spurs conceded the opener in the 11th minute as Tomi Horvat broke the deadlock for the hosts. Spurs’ Rayan Sessegnon received a red card just after the half-hour mark, causing new problems for Antonio Conte’s side.
Tottenham started the second half with dominance, creating several chances behind Mura’s backline. Harry Kane scored the equalizer for the Spurs in the 72nd minute.
However, Mura were too good to lose two points that easily. They scored a match-winner in the extra time, defeating Tottenham in arguably the biggest night of the club’s short history.
Tottenham are now second in Group G of the Europa Conference League behind Rennes. They are above Vitesse due to their better goal difference. The Spurs will play their final game of the group stage against the group leaders Rennes on December 9.
