The German maestro has made a request to a teammate and compatriot of his who looks set to quit the Allianz Arena for free in June.

Thomas Muller has urged Jerome Boateng to stay at Bayern Munich beyond the expiration of his current contract.

Boateng is one of the longest-serving players for Bayern. Being a reliable presence in their backline throughout the years, he has built an impressive CV, winning 20 major honors including eight back-to-back Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies.

It appears, however, that the 32-year-old is about to end his decade-long stay at Allianz Arena. He is yet to put pen to paper to fresh terms at the club despite having entered the final six months of his contract.

The center-back remains a key part of Hansi Flick’s team, making 21 appearances across all competitions this season, but is linked with an exit.

“He’s currently with us,” Muller commented on his teammate and compatriot’s situation at the club, speaking to Sport Buzzer. “He still has a contract until the summer.

“With a signature on the right paper, that would be done for the future as well. Jerome has been by my side for a long time and it doesn’t hurt if he’s on a little longer watch out for me.”
