Following Chelsea’s victory over Newcastle United in the EFL Cup, Mykhailo Mudryk reached out to Kieran Trippier with a classy message.
Mykhailo Mudryk urged Kieran Trippier to ‘stay strong’ after the Newcastle star’s error against Chelsea in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
On Tuesday, Newcastle’s run in the EFL Cup ended at Stamford Bridge. The Magpies led from the 16th minute thanks to Callum Wilson’s opening goal. Yet, in the last minute of added time, a poor headed clearance from Trippier allowed Mudryk to score and force the game into penalties.
Chelsea later won the shootout 4-2 after Trippier and Matt Richie missed their spot-kicks. This led Mudryk, who also scored a penalty, to show his support for the former on social media later on.
“Kieran, I just wanna say to you: stay strong,” the winger posted on Instagram.
“Sometimes s**t happens but I think you are [a] strong footballer, no matter what.”
Trippier, who joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid for €14 million in January 2022, is a fundamental figure in Eddie Howe’s team.
The right-back has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season and provided eight assists. He will hope to bounce back on Saturday when Newcastle visit Luton in the Premier League.
