Could the stars be aligning for a second spell of Jesse Lingard at West Ham United? The midfielder is currently a free agent.
Jesse Lingard has been impressive during his time training at West Ham, according to manager David Moyes.
The Hammers offered Lingard the chance to keep fit after his exit from Nottingham Forest. The 30-year-old has made the most of the opportunity. He has made great strides in getting back to fitness, although the prospect of earning a contract is not on the table right now.
“Jesse has trained with us for three weeks and he’s improved greatly from when he first came in,” Moyes told talkSPORT.
“He’s in really good condition – much better condition than he was when he first came in.
‘No real update on a deal’
Lingard spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Ham. The move proved to be an inspired choice. The midfielder went from being a forlorn figure at Manchester United to a star performer in London. He managed nine goals and five assists in 16 games.
Naturally, given his struggles in Manchester and Nottingham since then, a Hammers return has been touted for Lingard.
“I want to give him every opportunity to get himself back in condition and see how he does,” Moyes said of the player’s future.
“So there’s no real update on it at the moment, just to say that he’s back and getting much closer to the levels of fitness where you’d hope he would be.”
West Ham will play Manchester City at home for their next Premier League game this Saturday.
