The London side have emerged as strong contenders early in the road to glory, but their manager doesn’t want to get carried away.

Tottenham are yet to suffer a single defeat in the Premier League since losing out to Everton on the opening day of the campaign.

A fine run of six wins and three draws in their previous nine league outings has put Spurs in a quite favorable position to challenge Liverpool for their crown.

Owing to Jose Mourinho’s ideology, the Lilywhites are one of the most exciting teams to watch this season and there is hope among supporters that the manager can bring silverware this term to mark the end of an eight-year-long curse.

They currently hold the second position in the league table – one point behind Chelsea with a game in hand.

Tottenham have the chance to regain their lead as they prepare to take to the pitch to go against Arsenal on Sunday.

“If the talk outside is positive talk, we have to be patient and calm and not excited,” Mourinho told Sky Sports, warning his side not to get carried away by their impressive start.

“If the talk is negative and critical, we cannot be affected by that either.

“We have to be cool, we have to keep a balance and give everything we have, always, and at the end of the season we will see what happens.”
