Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has opened up about the Portuguese manager’s interest in working at Bayern Munich.

Jose Mourinho has spent many ups and downs as a manager in recent years. From his controversial stint at Manchester United to getting sacked by Tottenham right before a crucial final.

Among the top-five European leagues, Bundesliga is the only Mourinho has not worked in yet. However, a new interview reveals he was keen to join Bayern Munich a few years ago.

In an interview with RAI Sport, former Bayern director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has spoken about Mourinho’s interest in working at Bayern.

“A few years ago, Mourinho wanted to come to Germany to work at Bayern, but we felt he wasn’t the right man for the club.

“Personally, he always made a good impression on me. I hope that he can find success at Roma, because he needs to win on a daily basis.”

Mourinho is currently coaching Roma, spending his second spell in Serie A. After an incredible start to the season, the Giallorossi are struggling for form under the former Chelsea boss.

Roma currently sit sixth in Serie A with 19 points from their 12 matches. Mourinho’s side will be back in action against Genoa on November 21.
