The Spurs striker is in a race against time for the crunch clash on the weekend, and his manager is choosing to remain optimistic.

A fitness issue kept Harry Kane out of Tottenham’s Europa League matchday 5 encounter with LASK Linz.

Jose Mourinho denied revealing information about the details of his injury, with the striker having played the full 90 minutes of the previous match – a goalless stalemate against Chelsea in the Premier League.

The absence of the team’s top-scorer ended up costing them a win as Spurs played out a 3-3 draw in Austria.

Kane has been central to his side’s rise to the top of the Premier League table and Europa League Last 32 qualification with his red-hot goalscoring form, netting 13 times in 16 games across all competitions.

His presence in Sunday’s decisive clash against Arsenal could tip the north London derby in Spurs’ favor, and Mourinho is hoping that Kane regains full fitness ahead of the match.

“I believe he is going to be fit. I’m not sure,” the Tottenham boss told reporters after Thursday’s match, via Goal.

“He’s having treatment, but I could be doing some bluff and pretend he’s in trouble, but he’s not and I think he’ll play [against Arsenal].”
