During an interview on Sic, Jose Mourinho revealed that getting eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League was his biggest frustration.

Jose Mourinho has a love/hate relationship with the UEFA Champions League. He’s already won this title twice in his career but he always did it while coaching the underdog. Back in 2004, Jose remembers this as the happiest moment of his career when he won the trophy with FC Porto.

We all remember that historic moment when a younger Jose ran down the sideline at Old Trafford after eliminating Manchester United in the quarterfinals. That was the first taste of true glory that Mourinho ever experienced but it wouldn’t be the last.

The 2010 season came with Jose facing the greatest Barcelona in history and eliminating them in the semifinals. That season was also the year in which Inter Milan won the treble under Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho’s most competitive squad.

But if you ask the Portuguese manager about the most competitive squad he ever had, his answer might surprise you. Despite winning a treble for Inter, Mou doesn’t hesitate to tell you that Real Madrid from the 2011/12 season is the strongest side.

Marca reported an interview on Portuguese channel Sic, where he talked about his frustrations at Real Madrid. Jose is convinced of the squad he coached that season, he believes they were the best in Europe at the time.

“If I had to pick the worst moment of my career, it would be the 2012 elimination at Real Madrid,” said Mou during the interview.

“We were the best club in Europe, by far. The team won La Liga beating all the records in points and goals. Real Madrid would’ve won that final, I have no doubts.

“The cruelest part for me was that we chose Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, and Serio Ramos for the penalty shootout. They were guaranteed to always score. That’s why having the players who always scored missing the penalties sank me.”
