Ahead of a stressful schedule in December, Jose Mourinho confirmed the return of an important Tottenham defender.
Jose Mourinho and Tottenham received good news ahead of their Europa League fixture regarding one of their important players. Yes, Toby Alderweireld should be back in action to boost the Spurs defense line sooner than the initial return date. The Belgium international limped off the field during Tottenham’s encounter with Manchester City last weekend. And we saw the newbie Joe Rodon replacing the major center-back for the final few minutes.
Mourinho was asked whether Alderweireld’s injury was a serious one. He told Sky Sports after the match: “I would say so. I just feel sorry for Toby. He did a fantastic performance, he has an important injury. It’s the injury of fatigue.” And things were looking pretty difficult for the Portuguese boss as the defender would be out till December. This is because Mourinho has limited alternatives for that position, and it clearly worried him.
Injury boost.
On Wednesday, Mourinho revealed that Alderweireld will recover sooner than expected, which would be better for Tottenham. This means that the Belgian will be present to aid the north London side during a congested upcoming schedule. Jose told the reporters ahead of Thursday’s clash with Ludogorets: “Toby has a muscular injury but not as big as we initially thought. “He will have his time to be out but not like a month, which was immediately what we thought. I’d say between two and four weeks.”
