Jose Mourinho revealed that he’s very thankful for Pep Guardiola’s kind words after a difficult time in his life.

Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have not always seen eye-to-eye over their careers. In fact, the Pep-Jose long term brawl has been one of the biggest and better-known manager rivalries of this century.

However, Mourinho’s recent declarations about the Manchester City manager suggest their rivalry was largely amplified by the media. Moreover, the Tottenham boss told reporters that they share a good relationship dating back to their Barcelona days.

“For years we worked together, we shaw each other every day. We celebrated together the titles we won, we didn’t cry but were disappointed together when we lost something important. Great periods of our lives, him as a player and myself as a young assistant, and that’s of course what I keep. After that, I can only have good feelings with him, I don’t have any bad feelings.”

The problems created on the pitch, stay on the pitch.

Additionally, Jose Mourinho stated that whatever issues may occur on the pitch don’t translate into their personal lives. In fact, the Portuguese manager revealed he has a lot of respect for Guardiola, especially after the Spaniard acted out of kindness in a very difficult moment of Jose’s life.

“There are moments in life where we don’t forget things. One of the things I don’t forget was when my father died. He knew how important my dad was to me so he had a call. By the way, he would be 83 today,” Mourinho emotionally added.

“And of course, when his mom died I replied the same way, so there are things people don’t see. We don’t need to share, I’m sharing because I have now the opportunity but I only have good memories of him when we worked together.”
